After many years of practice and research in the performing arts, we have found essential therapeutic value and understanding within these modalities that we strongly feel must be shared. The method is based on the hypothesis that the therapeutic effect of art lies in the moment of expression, and the depth and authenticity of the expressions are directly proportional to the basic confidence of the person.

Therefore, the retreat aims to provide a safe space to release and transmute stagnant energetic blocked, whatever needs to be released. Whether it is trauma or detaching from old preconceived beliefs of yourself. This is a week of introspection, a laboratory of experiences that give rise to our shadows and inner light... And recognizing our strengths that lie in between these polarities.

The Triple Vagal Method® (TVM) is a somatic healing modality that is body-oriented through the physical manipulation of the Vagus nerve to release trauma and stimulate neuroplasticity while releasing surges of Oxytocin in the body (the one hormone that is a proven antidote for trauma).


TVM is a bottom-up hands-on therapy. We will regulate the nervous system through the activation of the autonomic nervous system, and more specifically through the Vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is in charge of many different functions in the body such as the digestive, respiratory, reproductive, and heart system. Therefore it is crucial to regulate the entirety of your nervous system to assist in leading a healthy life. The vagus nerve is also responsible for the production of oxytocin in the body and of the communication between sympathetic and parasympathetic.


After traumatic moments there is a tendency for the body to enter a state of stagnation and attach itself to a repetitive sympathetic response which then delays our continuation to the parasympathetic stage. When this occurs, the stressed nervous system overloads and inevitably enters into a freeze response and shuts down.

Completing cycles is very important, to complete a cycle one must transition from parasympathetic to sympathetic, then return to parasympathetic. With Triple Vagal Method you will complete cycles, as many times as you can, so the body can understand in repetitive cycles that it is safe. Literally, a reset. This way we build a vagal tone, in other words, by observing and living life from a relaxed and content expression. This revitalizing process will help us enter a state of presence, understanding and compassion. It will even assist in deepening your meditation practice.Since the vagus nerve controls several systems in the body, it will also help improve digestive problems, respiratory issues and body pains.

Unlike other Somatic methods, all the client needs to do during a TVM session is sit back, relax and allow the emotions to surface as the practitioner is working on releasing the stored trauma in the body and helping create a newer and healthier neurological blueprint.

From here we will shave off layer by layer to awaken a more intuitive and serene self by sharpening your attention through dynamic and still meditative practices - to feel the subtleties of life, enhance the senses and refresh an appreciation for truly living, and by doing so, renew your being.


We open the experience every day with the practice of Hatha Yoga, Pranayama (Breathwork) exercises and Meditation (Anapana, Vipassana & Metta), inhabiting our being with integrity; body, mind & soul. As the retreat begins, we generate an atmosphere of connection by offering a series of Somatic Movement and Shadow work workshops that encourage self-expression and acceptance that embody confidence. Explore the different levels of your comfort and discover the beauty in life and all its splendor. Giving yourself time and space to immerse in artistic/therapeutic laboratories that allow you to make wise decisions, refine the senses and light an inner motivation.

You begin the day with morning tea to warm the body. Our morning breakfast is a power Smoothie Bowl topped with nuts, shredded coconut, fruit and seeds to nourish the body holisticlly. The lunch will be after the second activity and will contain a balance of nutrients needed to nourish ourselves without feeling heavy or lethargic.


 

Food




We will provide vegetarian/vegan meals loaded with the necessary energy-boosting proteins, carbs, and healthy fats to fortify our bodies and mind throughout our daily activities. At the end of the day, as we approach sunset time we will gather for dinner to complete the necessary nutrients for the day. Leaving our body in perfect condition to practice intermittent fasting (eating 8 hours / fasting 16 hours) to perceive all the benefits of this wonderful practice:

NOELIA RODRIGUEZ
Noelia holds a Master's degree in Physiotherapy and has studied the human body profoundly for over 15 years. For decades she approached healing with a very scientific perspective, incorporating diverse modalities and techniques. However, she felt something in her practice was missing.
Over the last 10 years, a deeper intuition of truth brought her closer to different modalities such as Meditation, Yoga, and Experimental-spiritual theater, where her body was able to treat itself by recognizing and unveiling stored pains from past traumas.
This led to her connection with Somatic therapy and Triple Vagal Method (TVM), identifying this as the missing link that would rapidly improve many of her patient’s lives, including her own.
Presently, she approaches healing and her client's therapy treatment from different perspectives where Physiotherapy, Body Work, TVM, Somatic Healing, and Spirituality are interwoven. Acknowledging how each practice complements the other, and together they are essential instruments that sustain a balanced and healthy life.



NATHALIE DUEÑAS
Co-founder of DeepRoot Movement, Nathalie has over 15 years of classical dance experience, a degree in Psychology, a background in Hatha yoga and diverse meditation practices, and countless life lessons from years of living nomadically around the globe. I've witnessed breakthroughs in comparable mental and physical ailments/limitations, recognizing there are multiple avenues to healing, from ancestral practices to allopathic medicines.
My interest in movement-meditative research started at Uni. Yet the practical work initiated a few years back in India and continued on into Mexico and California, thereafter it expanded into other therapeutic terrains within the arts. Such as performative and visual arts, dynamic meditations, yoga, mindfulness, conscious nutrition, applied kinesiology and alternative therapies.
Now, consolidating embodiment, self-observation, and therapeutic life studies into experiences of self-discovery that encourage a fundamental balance and confidence in individuals and in groups. I hope to contribute to the collective evolution, as one heals we all begin to heal, and vice versa. The recovery process initiates with recognizing the uncomfortable truth to truly create a path of connection and transformation.

Welcome to our Colibri shared bedroom and to this stunning traditional Mexican-decorated private Villa. This cozy and silent room is ideal for introspection, deep sleep and relaxation. The welcoming room offers you a comfortable single bed, towel and toiletries and each room has its own private ensuite bathroom at your convenience. No need to wait, it’s ready at your disposal.

This Shared room hosts one other guest, whether you arrive together or meet on this journey.

Location



As you arrive via taxi or Uber you will enter the endearing traditional Mexican town of Xochitepec in Morelos Mexico. A bit about the cultural history of its entomology, the name Xochitepec means, 'on the flowery hill or the flowery hill' which comes from the Nahuatl language. Varieties of Nahuatl are spoken by about 1.7 million Nahua people, most of whom live mainly in Central Mexico.

Once at the Villa, you will be greeted by the eclectic Mexican design that will leave you feeling like you've stepped into a different era, mixing rustic wood and wrought iron furnishings with over-the-top, bright, vivid colors. You smile with curiosity as you walk to your room where the suitcase is unpacked and you've settled in. This will be your loving home for the following 6 days where valuable and cherished experiences will gradually form.

How To Get There (Transportation)




Airport

Once arriving at the International Airport of Mexico City (AICM), you can book an Uber or Taxi directly to your hotel (if you arrive before the retreat) or you can travel directly to the retreat Villa which is 80min from the airport.
We will create a WhatsApp group a week before the start of the retreat for those of you who want to meet up and perhaps share a ride via taxi, uber, or tourist bus together to the retreat Villa in Xochitepec, Morelos.

Arrival By Taxi


We will create a WhatsApp group a week before the start of the retreat for those of you who want to meet up in Mexico City (CDMX) and share a taxi ride together to the retreat location in Xochitepec, Morelos.A taxi from Mexico City (CDMX) to the retreat location (Xochitepec) costs between 1600 Mexican pesos (3 people with luggage fit in this taxi) and 3000 mxn (5 people with luggage fit in this taxi), and it is about an hour's car ride to the traditional Mexican town of Xochitepec.


Arrival By Bus


Once you fly into Mexico City and wish to take a tourist bus from CDMX to the retreat location (Xochitepec), then you will have to go to the Taxqueña bus station and book with the Pullman de Morelos bus line.The buses depart to Xochitepec every hour, so it is not necessary to pre-book the bus ticket in advance, unless you want to.The bus ticket costs between 180 to 210 Mexican pesos.

HOW DOES TRIPLE VAGAL METHOD (TVM) WORK?
